Make the WHMCS Admin Theme supported by using Child Themes, same way as client area themes and orderforms.

Taking it a little further you could allow clients to choose which SMS alerts they'd like to receive... ie Payment failed, login in notification, invoice generated, password changed etc. That way they can opt-in to what's important to them without being overrun by alerts.
