RDAP Whois query integration

To improve future domain searches, WHMCS should support the RDAP protocol by default and optionally the current Whois system.

What is RDAP?
The Registration Data Access Protocol (RDAP) is a network protocol that was standardized by a working group of the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) in 2015. It is the successor to the WHOIS protocol, which is used to look up the domain name, IP address, Autonomous System Number (ASN), and contact information of Internet resources.

More information about RDAP can be found here:

Looks like this is already happening: https://domainincite.com/30788-registries-have-started-shutting-down-whois

This is looking like a "must include" for the next release.
this i think is now critical as we have received notification that ICANN is shortly switching to RDAP and that WHOIS will no longer be publicly available once all registries have been converted...

similar message is popping up on public whos services such as domaintools.com:

"Notice: Possible deprecation of WHOIS services after January 28, 2025 for ICANN TLDs
ICANN is in the process of transitioning registries and registrars from using WHOIS to provide domain registration data to a replacement protocol, RDAP. This could happen as soon as January 28, 2025. In cases where registries and/or registrars turn off their Whois services, whois.domaintools.com can no longer provide updated WHOIS records. DomainTools is adding RDAP to our enterprise products, Iris Investigate, Iris Detect and the Iris Enrich API. Domain registration data will continue to be provided in those applications.
See this FAQ for more details on RDAP and how it will be integrated into Iris Investigate, Enrich and Detect.
Please contact us at [email protected] with any questions."
It is essential that this is integrated and rolled out soon to be able to tested and ready for the WHOIS switch off early next year.
ICANN has now amended the contracts of gTLD registries to require the support of RDAP across all gTLDs and allow port 43 WHOIS to be turned off by Registry Operators for gTLDs after 28th January 2025.

Nominet are proposing to close the port 43 whois from that date.
So supporting RDAP for whois is essential.
This is a great suggestion and would make things a lot faster for the registrar's supporting it.
