I would like to suggest having a field to enter to receive an order confirmation. As of today, the only option is through the user role.

Checking the "General Emails" option on a Contact will allow receipt for Order Confirmation emails: https://docs.whmcs.com/Clients:Contacts_Tab
Would that meet your requirements here?
