I've been with WHMCS for a while, and the current infrastructure has worked. The idea is to rebuild WHMCS using modern MVC patterns and upgrade the front end to frameworks like React or VUE. At least with modern MVC patterns, there won't be restrictions if one would like to go headless with WHMCS.
