Wouldn't it better to have option to make every pages in WHMCS cover by SSL?
Merged Ideas
Allow WHMCS to Secure the entire /whmcs/ folder FORCE-SSL option
The entire /whmcs/ folder should run using https:// however if you try and set https:// in the WHMCS system URL and the whmcs SSL url, whmcs SMARTLY removes the setting for the SSL system url... YEP its by design acording to support. So unless you add a redirect (which i am happy to do) in the htaccess you CAN'T secure the entire /whmcs/ folder.now have we not learned a few lessons of the last little bit that security should be paramount?
Sitewide SSL for SEO Boost
We would like to make our entire WHMCS installation use https so we have sitewide SSL encryption to match that of our main WordPress site.As Google recently announced, they are giving a small ranking boost to sites using a sitewide SSL. Or at least the pages with the SSL installed will be given a boost. SSL is only given a little boost at present, but it will become a stronger and stronger signal over time because Google wants to see everyone using SSL's. I believe that for the most part it is propaganda on Google's part and I don't believe that their reason for this is to make the web a safer place. In fact I believe that this is part of some strategy of theirs which will benefit them financially in some way. I'm a very experienced SEO and I know for a fact that everything they say when they release an update is propaganda to try and shape the web and behavior of site owners in their favour and try and shut down as many SEO's as they can an ultimately get everyone paying for Adwords. But with that said, whether it's part of their strategy or not, I do believe that it delivers the small ranking boost that they say, which I believe they will increase over time, and I'm not too worried about any ramifications of this particular algorithm tweak which is part of their strategy. Usually I take what they say and run in the opposite direction, but with this I'm going to go with it for our main website (hopefully WHMCS installation too), as we are just launching a new site so it's something that we can easily fix from the start without having to go changing/redirecting pages with the https in front later and worry about duplicate content etc. It makes sense to do it from the start. For all the hosting gurus out there, yes it will use more resources having a sitewide SSL, but as an SEO, personally I'd sooner leverage the small SERP/trust boosts and worry less about the extra resources used.Sources:http://searchengineland.com/google-starts-giving-ranking-boost-secure-httpsssl-sites-199446
We're happy to announce that this will be possible with Version 7.0. Introduced in our latest beta build. The System URL and System SSL URL fields have been combined in WHMCS 7.0 to a single field. It is recommended that an SSL enabled URL be provided for the System URL at all times. When SSL is available, it will now be used for all requests, both admin and client side. If a System SSL URL was defined prior to upgrade, this value will be preserved and used for the System URL. To read more about this feature along with instructions on how to try out the beta, please visit http://docs.whmcs.com/Version_7.0_Release_Notes.
