I would like to suggest an enhancement for the MyOrderBox module within WHMCS that pertains to the handling of domain transfers from ResellerClub/NetEarthOne.
Currently, when a customer initiates a domain transfer by entering the domain name and EPP key and completing payment, the transfer request is automatically submitted to the API. However, we have observed that when domain transfers fail to complete its usually for a couple of reasons:
Incorrect Transfer Secret:
Status in ResellerClub: "The Registrant contact has approved this transfer. To proceed, you must submit the authorization code. Enter your Transfer Authorization Code."
Transfer Lock Enabled:
Status in ResellerClub: "Your domain name's transfer is on hold due to restrictions placed by the Registry. Contact your current Registrar to have the restrictions removed."
These issues typically remain unnoticed by our team until the customer contacts support to inquire about the activation status of their domain, or they mention that they did not renew their domain with their previous registrar assuming the transfer had been completed.
To address this, I propose the following improvements to the MyOrderBox module:
Automated Status Checks: Integrate a system that utilizes the scheduled cron to routinely check the status of domain transfer orders. If common issues like the ones mentioned are detected, the system should automatically trigger an email notification to the customer.
Self-Service Options: Enable functionality within the WHMCS client area that allows customers to update the EPP code themselves. This feature would mirror the self-service options available with other registrars and would significantly reduce the need for support tickets regarding domain transfer issues.
Implementing these features would not only streamline the domain transfer process but also enhance customer satisfaction by providing transparency and control, reducing the potential for service disruption during the transfer phase.
Thank you for considering this request. I look forward to the potential improvements in our service capabilities.
