It would be good to get email notifications on new projects that are posted that have been assigned to you, and also notifications on tasks and the messageboard

Yes, I really see a need for this. If a staff makes a reply to Staff board there is no way to know unless you sign in and look.

It's completely necessary I agree with lynewman... and basic.
I worked in multiple project management systems. Such notifications is essential part.
Once you have more then 3 projects where everything is being updated, changed, status, updates, requests.........
It's impossible to keep track of it except going in to individual project to see updates.
But even then you you can not tell what has changed and what has remained the same.
This is desperately needed! We just bought & installed your PM add-one thinking this was a basic features. It's impossible to operate and effective PM system without this. Please at least post a response here so we know what's going on. If not, we will be forced to ask for a refund and employ another system. Thank you.
Here here to JD Armelin's comment. I bought PM in hopes of using it and it is not usable yet for me.
It hasn't got the love, attention, and updates from WHMCS that is customary.

I've had to sacrifice it's lack of abilities when compared to Basecamp. But no email notifications is hurting our growth rate.
Bought this extension more then 4 month ago. And stopped using it as it adds no value in to organization. All it is folder that helps group your tickets. This feature needs serious work done especially that it sells for such high price (comparing to WHMCS backbone itself)
It needs notifications(on comments on private notes, on message boards, on status change on new ticket addition and such) , needs workflows, needs refined permission for project managers to be able to assign tickets to proper resource and similar to name a few.
But when assigned project resource does not know when and what changes thats just makes no sense.
What i now do for large projects is I create separate Department per project. It solves the issue of all notification problems. Project management Add-on is redundant at this point.
I guess I just assumed that such a basic feature would be available for configuration, but I was disappointed to find out that - nope - can't do that. Please add this capability. Not just for projects, but for tasks within projects as well - especially assigned tasks.
That would certainly be useful, as would the ability to send a report of activity
Regarding the "and also notifications on tasks and the messageboard" - I think that there should be a way for several notifications -that will be sent per task until you nark the task as complited.

It works pretty well, John, but there's a serious bug. If I'm assigned to the project and I make a change, I get a notification. There's no need for me to get a notification if I'm the one doing the action. It results in hundreds of emails very quickly
More control of the notifications will become essential for this module. If a client adds a new task from the client area there is no email notification!
I don't seem to get any email notifications. How do we set these up? The documentation is poor. How to send notification to client when project has been updated?
Staff will receive email notifications for projects assigned to them. You can get notifications for other projects by toggling the "Watching" option to the On position.
How can we enable clients to receive the email updates?
At the moment we have to send them support ticket which is manual and time consuming - much better to send automated update notifications like the ones staff get (perhaps provide the ability in settings, to choose which emails client gets... eg. just the status updates)
