Currently, it is only possible to set up a Direct Debit mandate through the invoice itself, rather than against the 'Payment Methods' screen.

I think logically, it would make more sense if a client was able to setup a new Direct Debit mandate via the Payment Methods screen, similar to how you are able to with Credit / Debit cards for Stripe, etc.

Hi Dennis,
Thanks for taking the time to submit this idea.

GoCardless' implementation requires a charge to be made against the client's bank account when creating a Direct Debit Mandate. During invoice payment WHMCS sends the invoice balance.
How much should the client be charged to create a mandate in this case when there is no invoice being paid?

I don’t believe the comment from WHMCS is actually correct. Gocardless provide the necessary APIs to create a mandate and doesn’t need a charge to be made against the clients bank at the same time. Please see https://developer.gocardless.com/billing-requests/setting-up-a-dd-mandate

I don’t think this should be too hard to implement and it’s definitely something I’d like to see.
