Direct customer to pay outstanding invoice when renewing a domain and not allowing them to renew instead

From what we are seeing, when a customer has an outstanding domain renewal invoice they can either pay the invoice or click renew now.
If they click renew now WHMCS creates a new invoice and cancels the outstanding invoice.
This seems confusing and seems the renew now button should instead have the customer pay the outstanding invoice or at least direct them in some way. It's easy enough for someone to overlook that they should be paying the outstanding invoice especially if they are distracted.
