WYSIWYG Editor for templates
Under Consideration
It would be nice if there was a WYSIWYG Editor for the templates, where all current options are selectable, or custom images can be uploaded, Drag and Drop Feature, the works. This would take the pain out of beginners having to fight to edit the template and users to have more variance in their design seeing as so many of us use WHMCS.
I would disagree here sorry, i'm sure many would agree.
WHMCS is made for billing and client management not a CMS.
Put it together with J!WHMCS
I'm totally disagree too.
Developers have more important things to do like security, bug fixes, modules updates, and more useful features.
Sorry .
+ 1 from me
wsywig editor on a smarty template tpl file - no thanks
Really bad idea. There are many much more important things to implement than making some drag and drop CMS from WHMCS.
If you cannot modify simple html... ..why are you doing web hosting?
I think that we need an WYSIWYG html editor in all text area fields (WHMCS backend) - tickets system, the quotes proposal text and customer notes and so on and so on. every text area fields in the WHMCS should have this option.
I don't know why only part of the text fields support WYSIWYG html editor (Now it is only in Email Templates, Mass Mailing, Knowledge-Base and Announcements i think) but it should be in the tickets system, the quotes proposal text and customer notes and so on and so on. every text area fields in the WHMCS should have this option.
Not all of us need or want to be able to "modify simple html".
55 people voted "yes", only 2 "no".
If you are such an advocate on web hosting self development - you don't need WHMCS - you can do it all by yourself.
You can say the same thing regarding any other improvement WHMCS do - why did WHMCS developer add an WYSIWYG html editor in the Email Templates, Mass Mailing, Knowledge-Base and Announcements?
I guess that they thought that it will help some of the user of WHMCS and make they life a bit easier.
I think that WHMCS should do there best to be a market leader - not only in great system, but also in great service, if the users think / need an WYSIWYG html editor in all text area fields - it should be implemented.
You dont have to use it if toy don't want.
I am just against your suggestion for "all text fields" and I am strongly against WYSIWYG for smarty templates. That would be very limiting compared to manual template editing that allows some php and smarty vars customisations, javascript additions, etc, so while this request might be good for total web novices, it would be a total disaster for experts, and I just don't want to see WHMCS on that path.
You said "I don't really care about thos" - but i (and i guess other) do.
We use the ticketing system daily - and there is no easy way to bold a sentence or underline something important that you want the customer to be aware to and so on.
since there are WYSIWYG html editor in the Email Templates, Mass Mailing, Knowledge-Base and Announcements - why not make life easier and add it to other places such as tickets system, the quotes proposal text and customer notes and so on and so on....
I'm sure that expert will figure a way to keep doing the "manual template editing that allows some php and smarty vars customisations, javascript additions, etc,"
and the "total web novices" will have a way to improve their site and offering.
Here is the reason why html and smarty file edition cannot be enabled everywhere as you want : devilscafe.in/2012/05/whmcs-hacking-with-sumbit-ticket.html
if you just prefer something easy, maybe you could give a try to this : http://www.whmcs.com/appstore/137/WHMCS-Content-Management-System---Turn-your-WHMCS-into-a-CMS---With-Multi-Language-.html
...and again : if you are affraid, or think it's too complicated to edit / upload using an ftp software, and if you don't understand html, maybe you should consider doing something else than web hosting.
If you want to learn, peoples on whmcs forum are there to help you to modify your code. Just ask in a forum post how to do what you want to do, and you will see how fast you will be able to get all your questions answered. ;-) We all started from zero someday, and we all been able to learn.. ...by doing this, you won't ;-)
If you allow admin to edit .tpl files, then it would also allow an attacker to edit theses files with a base64 code posted somewhere, someday... ...i would never take that risk, not with whmcs.
+1 from me.

I'd love this for the quote system.. Being a web designer, being able to insert images of mockups etc into my quote would be a winner
Hello,
Can we (users who have been asking for this feature) get an update on this being added? Is it on the bottom of the list, half way there or not even included?
DELETED
What you need to understand, creating a WYSIWYG is a lot more complicated and complex than you can even imagine. For what we pay for WHMCS I really don't want to see that money put into the direction of a WYSIWYG editor when more important features can be added.
If you can't edit a SIMPLE template file then HIRE someone that can. Quit being lazy and take care of your business.
By the way, have you noticed how this script uses a WYSIWYG editor? Have you noticed how WHMCS emails also have a WYSIWYG editor? They already have implemented it, just not for tickets.
R0adRa93,
There's a wise saying that goes like this, "it's best to let the world think you're an idiot, than to open your mouth and clear all doubt".
Now, as Kelvin Zhang rightfully pointed out, the editor is ALREADY integrated within WHMCS, just not the TICKETS area, which is one of the most important feature within WHMCS.
A simple inclusion of this within the tickets isn't as complicated as the weekly security upgrades I would imagine....
The WYSIWYG editor that you so lovingly point out is called timy_mce it is NOT designed to edit/modify the smarty templates. They need to build an entire WYSIWYG system around SMARTY. Tiny_MCE is not the program I would use for a full scale WYSIWYG system.
Please don't tell me that I am an idiot when it's obvious you don't know the steps to manipulate WHMCS to make it work for you.
Show me the modules you created for WHMCS.
Show me the work-a-rounds you did to WHMCS to make it fit your needs. Yes, I have totally manipulated WHMCS and made it work in fields it wasn't designed for. If you think WHMCS is just for web hosting companies you would be mistaken.
I have made it work for other types of companies as well. Albeit, it took work and some heavy modifications but I still made it work. My customers are happy with the finished product and they were skeptical to my suggestion of WHMCS as it is marketed for *Web Hosting*.
Bottom line, yes, WHMCS needs refinement but a WYISYG editor is a piece I would not dump development dollars into.
When Kelvin Zhang pointed out that we want templates for the tickets, okay I can see that, but what is requested is for the WEBSITE TEMPLATES to be modified through the Tiny_MCE package which is doable but is not the most efficient of software packages for this project.
R0adRa93
Do you have any suggestions then for an editor (forget tinyMCE) as others besides you think it's a much needed feature?
Simply saying, as you seem to have a counter vested interest (perhaps workload on your side?) in NOT having this done.
Let me put it this way. Would you rather have software without features yet the company behind it makes millions or would you rather have software with features which the developers have put on their to-do list?
WHMCS needs to stay innovative in their products.
Having a "too hard, therefore can't be bothered" attitude will get you nowhere. "
OOPS. I thought I was commenting on 'Enable TINYMCE Editor for Tickets as well as Auto-Save functionality' all along. I therefore attract my earlier statements from here (sorry John).
Having a WYSIWYG editor for templates is ridiculous, since you're asking them to do a copy of Dreamweaver. In other words, if you don't know HTML/CSS/JS, you shouldn't be working with the templating system. Lots of code required.
@kelvin LOL - I think you're looking for this, which in my opinion is essential:

What I am talking about is a WYSIWYG editor for the SMARTY TEMPLATE SYSTEM that this post is obviously about.
If you voted yes I would strongly advise selecting NO.
Hi,
Something like WordPress CMS:
With the ability to add pages, add widgets, add menus and sub menus, have the ability to change order of menus and select if you want to display a menu or not, change colors and fonts, change page direction (RTL to LTR and LTR to RTL), add side bars in witch you can add menus and pictures, add videos from YouTube, format text, upload images (and edit them), upload documents, image galleries, etc. have the ability for the search engines to read and index a site’s content. each page, post, and image should have its own meta tag keywords, description, and title, and be optimized for specific keywords, allowing for very precise search engine optimization. Ability to add an event calendar, video gallery, Twitter Feed, Facebook Fan Box.
And doing so without the need for coding and direct editing the HTML or with using hooks - just make it simple with WYSIWYG editor.

Hi. This is specially needed for the invoicepdf.tpl where there is not html type coding.
