Replace Quote System with Modified Add New Order

There is no reason to reinvent the wheel when it comes to making quotes. The Add New Order would only need a few modification to work as a really good quote building tool. The things that would need to be added are listed below and should take very little work. I am willing to contribute to a crowd fund to get this done.

  1. Ability to change item order
  2. Ability to create new client active or inactive client
  3. Ability to add custom products and services
  4. Ability to attach files
  5. PDF and Emailed quote need to link to TOS
  6. Save quotes as templates
  7. Accept quote and agree to TOS button on PDF and emailed quotes
  8. WYSISWYG Editor for item descriptions

This may take some work but I would like to also see the ability to distinguish between Recurring and One Time items. I suggest a tick box beside the item to indicate either recurring amount or one time amount and then a separate total is calculated and shown indicating this. Alternatively a way to insert separators or headings into the item area.

I agree about distinguishing between recurring and one time items. Seems odd that I set prices for periods in the products services, and the new order system always defaults to monthly regardless.

YES! Please show setup charges/on-time fee's in their own column.

A quote and an order should be nearly identical. The only difference is a quote should allow for notes / comments, and attached files such as contracts, and or links to TOS's etc. At the end of the day they are very similar.

Also, when a quote is accepted is should automatically place an order!

I'm also a little baffled as to why the quote system is so poorly implemented - and why it wasn't based on the order entry - or simply a "cart" that has been pre-filled, waiting to be turned into an order.

Yep the quotes system is like not having it at all. Too many things wrong in its current form - we use a 3rd party app to do them or sometimes even G docs manually - so much more convenient and faster.

Please make it so the service can optionally start at a future date.

Example: The quote is sent to the customer on the 1st, accepted by the customer on the 5th with a start date of the 15th.

This feature in combination with term billing per-customer-per-product would allow me to move all of my customers away from ubersmith and over to whmcs.
