disable built in ticket module

Russ Michaels shared this idea 3 years ago
Under Consideration

Many customers, including us, use an external ticketing system, such as Kayako Fusion.

This is very problematic with WHMCS as there is currently no way to disable its own built in ticket system, which causes confusion for customers as they see links to view/open tickets in the client area, and if they use this, they will never be seen or replied to.

The only way round this currently is to edit the templates and remove the code/links, but as with any template hack, this gets overridden whenever WHMCS is updated, and all the changes have to be done again.

We really need a way to completely disable the internal tickets module if we do not use it, and preferably have the ability to instead link out to external helpdesk.

You could technically do this manually by removing the necessary .php files, however I get what you mean, good idea!

Removing files is a hack, would leave broken links and would still be undone after an upgrade.

We need a proper non hack solution.

Not all upgrades include these files and dependent on how you set your templates up, you would only need to edit a couple of files to fix, it's not a hack (go read what hacking means), its a temporary fix.

I know what hacking means thanks, better than you I bet since I was doing it since b4 you were born sonny jim on 8 bit computers. Hack has more than one meaning, look it up.

I have also done the required manual edits several times before and lost them on upgrade. The only time you don't upgrade all files is if you always install every single incremental update, we do not do this due to the fact they always break something which requires another update to fix.

I never said your idea was bad, I do agree with it, however I was providing an alternative solution, a temporary fix, and just to state a fact, I highly doubt you have been hacking longer than I have been alive "sonny jim".

I agree that this would be a great feature for us.

Many of our customers create tickets in WHMCS instead of our actual ticketing system which leaves them frustrated that they dont get a response.

Thanks,

Stephen
